ODULAIR AND USC UNVEIL THE WORLD'S LARGEST MOBILE DENTAL CLINIC

ABOUT ODULAIR

Odulair, LLC is a woman owned Wyoming company founded by a medical professional in 2008 to assist governments, NGOs, and private medical providers with advanced technology mobile clinics for the delivery of healthcare in over 40 medical specialties. Odulair Mobile and Modular Clinics can be built on most platforms including truck chassis, trailers, shipping containers, tents, and modular buildings.

With a history of break-through innovations, in 2012, Odulair launched the Mobile Clinics for Africa Program. In 2013, Odulair launched the world’s first Mobile Dialysis Unit. In 2014, Odulair launched the world’s first 100% solar-powered mobile clinic. Also, in 2014, our West African clients approached Odulair to develop the world’s first isolation unit to meet the unprecedented needs of Ebola isolation. Odulair rose to the challenge and developed a patent pending isolation unit to meet the needs of all infectious diseases with modes of transmission including bodily fluids, droplet transmission, particle transmission, and airborne transmission. The Odulair Ebola Isolation Unit and the Odulair Infectious Disease Isolation Unit were launched in early July 2014.

Odulair mobile and modular healthcare facilities are built to serve patient populations as independent operating vehicles or vehicles incorporated within an existing facility. Our units have been used for humanitarian healthcare delivery, community outreach, rural healthcare, hospital and surgery center renovation, capacity correction, emergency response, healthcare services within correctional facilities, and more.

The Ostrow Community Health Program is able to provide ongoing dental care with their new Odulair Mobile Dental Clinic

CHEYENNE, WY, Feb. 6, 2016—The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California recently celebrated its new Odulair™ Mobile Dental Clinic with a week of free dental care for hundreds in children in Pasadena.

The 50-foot Mobile Dental Clinic by Odulair™, the largest unit in a fleet of mobile clinics used by the Ostrow Community Health Program, boasts eight dental chairs and over 900 square feet when fully expanded.

USC Mobile Dental Clinic Director, Santosh Sundaresan, BDS, DDS, first dreamed of the idea of a massive dental clinic in 2013 with Odulair President and Founder, Anita Chambers, PhD, MBA.  “It indeed is surreal that a dream has materialized into reality,” said Dr. Sundaresan. The mobile clinic trailer, nicknamed Thor, began serving pediatric patients who lack access to care this February. “Everyone who has seen it has been amazed. The sheer size and attention to detail is evident inside and out. It is an amazing piece of art and the impact it can make is overwhelming”, remarked Dr Sundaresan. “We have already seen an impact by getting the attention of the community, and there has also been an impact on patient care. The patients feel they are valued being cared for in a state of the art clinic”, he added.  The community-based program offers comprehensive preventive and restorative dental care in rural and urban areas of Southern and Central California.

“Using their Odulair Mobile Dental Clinic,” said Anita Chambers, CEO of Odulair™ LLC, “The Ostrow Community Health Program is able to provide ongoing dental care to meet USC’s goal of serving more than 45,000 underprivileged children in five years.”

Even with the upfront expenses, including the cost of the mobile clinic, Dr. Sundaresan says that the mobile clinic will save USC money. “It is more efficient, because we have combined two trailers into one, it will be easier to transport, will take less time to set up, and since our program is student based, it is easier to supervise them in one big room.”  In addition, following the tell-show-do technique often used in pediatric dentistry, the eight operatory clinic is an ideal environment for behavioral modeling and allows nervous patients to see so many kids around them getting treatment.

“We are always trying to evolve and think about next steps,” says Dr Sundaresan. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of the mobile clinic and the effect it is already having, and will continue to have, on the communities we serve.”

The state-of-the-art, custom-designed Odulair™ mobile clinic surpasses the traditional, static dentist’s office with its patient-relaxation system to reduce dental anxiety. The self-contained and fully functional unit, almost the length of a semi-trailer, is outfitted with all the necessities for delivering dental care, including a separate x-ray room and space to accommodate a laboratory.

Mobile Dental Clinics by Odulair™ have created the opportunity for complete mobile dentistry delivered right where it’s needed. Fully functional when delivered, there is no limit to the type of dental work that can be performed inside a Mobile Dental Clinic by Odulair™, designed and fully equipped to provide the highest quality dental care for all patients.

Mobile Dental Clinics by Odulair™ are available for sale in the US and internationally.

ABOUT ODULAIR MOBILE CLINICS FOR AFRICA PROGRAM

Odulair founder and Fielding Graduate University Institute for Social Innovation Fellow Dr. Anita Chambers initiated the Mobile Clinics for Africa Program in 2012 in an effort to provide high quality, country specific custom mobile clinics to emerging nations at an affordable cost. To date, Odulair has designed mobile clinics to deliver healthcare for more than 40 medical specialties housed in platforms ranging from 30-foot (9 meter) highly mobile 4x4 truck-based clinics to 53-foot (16 meter) double expandable trailers. The Mobile Clinics for Africa Program creates collaboration between local African businesses and Odulair as the local businesses provide components for incorporation into the mobile clinics, which are then utilized to deliver healthcare within the country. This unique model of collaboration for the development of medical vehicles was developed by Dr. Chambers in an effort to stimulate both the economy of the recipient African country as well as small businesses in the United States.
